Said goood-bye to some old friends

Post by bindernut »

HAd to say good-bye to some old friends today. :( One was my fishing buddy and the other would explore the hills and canyons all over with me. Neither of them ever minded if I brought the whole family (and we even had more fun when we did) neither ever left me stranded either. Oldies but goodies, they just don't make em like that anymore.

Moving to Illinois and just couldn't take them all, the good news is my other buddy, my 70 bump is hitching a ride via auto transport.

Welp, fill up the bed with rust free fenders and radiator supports before you leave and it'll pay for the road trip.

I hate getting rid of old friends, I usually remember once they are gone that something expensive was 'hidden' in them somewhere.

I wish I could Jamie, it's about all I can do to get the contents of this house back there. I am finding a spot for a few extra parts tho. Also just bolting everything I can to the truck (the rules say I can't transport personal belonging in the truck....does that mean parts too? ) It's going to be a whole new ballgame not being able to find near pristine parts at the JY. I still have a connection or two here tho

Yeah, plus only 2 hours away from the great lakes. I can tell you it's much more colorful than AZ, and you really get to experience all four seasons here. It's darn cold in the winter and darn hot in the summer. The biggest adjustment for you will probably be the 95%+ humidity in the peak of summer and the few 10 degree (or less) days in the winter. It's SUPER nice in the spring and fall though!

Never been up there in the winter, my wife is from there and we spend a weeks vacation every year up there right around the fourth of July, can't remember what the humidity was but I do know last year the wood porch was wet pretty much 3 full days...and it hadn't rained. it's going to take some adjustment for sure, just happy the wife will be amongst her family again. she's been in AZ nearly 15 yrs. my turn to hang out in her neck of the woods. Hope my thin blooded desert rear end doesn't freeze off come winter tho.

I sure would liked to have, but we came through St. Louis. . Yesterday morn my F100 finally arrived. I can't say enough about the shipping company. I saw on here a recomendation for Ultimate Auto Shipping and spent the extra few dollars. Pat, with UAS was alright, he was great while he was selling the quote, but was a little "unconcerned" with my additional questions after the deposit. HOWEVER, "Les" with Starfleet (the carrier) was exellent. Extra parts in the cab and strapped in the bed? NO PROBLEM. I can't be there to sign the release, NO PROBLEM. He called to introduce himself and told me when he'd pick up and picked it up when he said he would. Called me once a day along the route with updates. Furthermore I specified I didn't want the truck delivered before Monday (7/9) he shut down 60 miles south of me Sunday night to make that happen too (even though I said he could deliver.) Furthermore, he answered my off the wall questions regarding changing my AZ class A CDL over to a Il. class A. nicest guy ever, said what he'd do, then did what he said....and then some. Not common these days.

So, move went great. Shipping truck went great, new house is nearly in order and I have my first job interview this morning. Wish me luck

you bet, not sure how it works but I believe the drivers load a route and the computer spits out vehicles along the route... in otherwords, I'm not sure he'd be your driver. I'll PM you his number and you can get the skinny from him. Patrick @ ultimate Auto shipping is probably the guy you want to talk to.
