New fuel prices?

Post by Ranchero50 »

Noticed this today:

87 $3.42
89 $3.62
93 $3.92

Auto diesel $3.64

Up until a couple weeks ago 93 used to only be 20 cents more than 87...

Looks like ya'll are running about .20-.30 higher than we are here in North Georgia. My wife even filled her car up, 87 oct, a couple of days ago for 2.97! Haven't paid attention to the 93 oct prices though. Someday soon I hope to want to though :D

Was $3.19 around Williamsburg VA last week on vacation. I took notice when we hopped off in Martinsburg WVA for dinner it was around $3.55 and back home in PA it's $3.25 for 87. I blinked on I-81 and missed the MD portion though.

P.S. 93 octane is still only .20 higher than 89 octane here. Noticed it today. 3.29/3.49/3.69 this morning at the nearest convenience store.

Yep, across the river in WV it's only a 20 cent difference. Good old MD screwing the people again...

Was passing through Pierce county yesterday (south of Seattle), regular $3.35.
My cousin in central Europe says it's around $5.60 there. No wonder so many cars have 1.0 liter motors.

It's $3.40 for 93 here in Richmond Va. The cheap stuff was down under $3 until last week but, it's creeping back up. The reason the 93 is often a lot higher than the cheap stuff is because the stores don't sell as much of it. The 93 at the Pure station I go to was $3.89 until 2 weeks ago. Now it's $3.43.

The reason for the dramatic drop is because the station owner has to sell the gas at the price he paid for it. If the gas in his tank cost him $3.75, he can't go below that because he doesn't know what the relacement cost will be. Since he hadn't bought any 93 in 6 months, his price stayed high. When he refilled, the price had dropped consideraly since the first of the year. The cheap stuff sells quickly. That's why the price drops more incrementally.
