Stags and check out moon shots
Took these shots by where I live. The Doe and Babies are by the front porch. After a long military career I do all my shooting with a camera. (No I am not against hunting. I just don't care to do it anymore.) Enjoy the pics my friends.

Re: Stags
That's really cool, I always wished I lived outa the city a little bit.
He's passed away now but I use to visit my gramps in Miss. and he had like 40 acres, we'd see stuff like this all the time.

Re: Stags
Very cool. Your pictures are very cool, and you have some very cool neighbors. Did you us a camera, or was it a phone? They looked a little too good to be from my Samsung. Maybe I will take some pictures to share, never thought of it.
At the bottom of our lot (2.5 acres) the deer walk by the fence that is meant to keep them out from under the deck and out of the pool. My Jack Russell keeps them from jumping the fence that is only six feet high. It is really cool in the spring to watch the fawns run and play with so much energy. The darn turkeys are another matter, I don't mind watching them walk by eating bugs, but being on my roof is another story. The hawks and buzzards are amazing to watch and I love the dove and quail. I was raised on a small farm in Cotati before it grew into a suburb. We moved to Lake County to get away from the crowds and traffic, I love it. I'd love to live on a mountain somewhere around here, but I think were I live is a good trade-off with fire safety and convenience to most services including a hospital two miles away.
But I ramble on, thanks for sharing, you are a very fortunate man to live where you do.

Thanks I enjoy your rambling on. I took the shots with a Sony Cyber shot DSC-HX100V. It is a great camera for around $400. I bought it so I could zoom in for shots. It has a 30X optical. Attached are a couple shots of the moon. One normal and the other of the moons surface at full zoom. Astounded me. John

Re: Stags and check out moon shots
Looks like some pretty healthy critters. I'm about the same way these days.. Hardly hunt at all any
more. I've got deer up at my OK property, but I've never shot at one yet. It's too much hassle to
get the meat processed, and then drag back home.
I wouldn't shoot anything I wasn't going to eat, no matter what.. Well.. Except for poisonous
snakes.. They will suffer lead poisoning if I see one..
I have mine visit me at my camp at night. They will sneak up to the edge of the clearing to
watch me. The only thing I've shot them with was a bright flashlight.. :/
And they just stand there and look at it.. One was a pretty good size buck one night.
His antlers stood well above the brushline he was hiding behind. There seem to be quite a few,
as they leave tracks and trails over the place.. Most is still wooded and not cleared..
I had a trail cam I was using, but it went kaput.. I've been intending to build a home brew
trail cam from a Sony W290, but need a few more parts.. I've got the camera, but need a
controller and a few other goodies.. I oughta do that before I go up there at the end of
October.. The home brew's images and video will be much better than what I was using.
It's 12 MP stills, and 720p HD video. I have two of the W290's just alike.. One I use as a
regular handheld camera.
