I was checking out the vin chart

Post by Chickenhawk368 »

I was checking out the vin chart and guess what, my truck doesn't exist. :? My f250 was built in aug 1972 (me too by the way). My guess is that mine was one of the last runs built to use up the parts before the new body style 1973 started up? :dk:

I for one would be very curious to see a pic of your VIN tag.....and also a visual of your frame VIN. Swapping numbers isnt uncommon in older vehicles. Also....if you determined a build date what is it that makes you think it was never built?
Find 'em....Buy 'em....Fix 'em.....Drive 'em....Love 'em

The vins all match on my truck, it's just they weren't making 1972s in Aug acording to the vin chart.

I was joking about my truck never being built, it just not on the charts. :hmm:

I dont remember exactly what it was with my 72, but same story. I remember when I got it and checked the VIN decoder, the sequence number of my truck was off the Fordification VIN chart. Some of the info with the sequence number on the VIN chart is obviously out of whack, but the rest of it all seems to be accurate.

Your best bet is to order the Marti report from http://www.martiauto.com/reports2.cfm

If you get the Deluxe report ($40), it will pretty much give you all the information you need on your individual truck, including order dates, build dates, delivery dates, where it was sold, what the stock options were, etc..
