My project

Post by Superjunk »

I started a new project a few weeks ago.It started with a 68 F250 4x4 flatbed dump that my dad got from the original owner about 8 years ago.It was sittin a while so dad finally got it runnin but the 360 locked up within a few minutes of running.I think it hydro locked(head gaskets maybe)?Under the valve covers looked like crap also.So I found a guy who had a 390 from a 64 Galaxy with 60k original miles. The inside of the motor was spotless so it could be true.Anyhow, after I swapped the motors I found a parts truck with a good cab,so I swapped them also. It's almost ready for the road.I have a few little things to button up.Here are some pics...

What I started with

This is why I did the cab swap.It was a lot worse than the pics, the cab mounts on the frame were also rotted,

Cab coming off, back hoe was down and nobody around to help so this is what I came up with to do it by myself,

Cab off,

Donor truck,

A little friend I found in the donor truck,

And finally almost done,I used por 15 on the whole underside and inside the cab floor,

I can't wait to put it on the road.It should be a handy little truck..

Neat! Are you going to keep the dump bed on it, or do something else?

I would absolutely LOVE to see some pics of the hydraulics setup and pivot points on that thing. The flatbed dump is something I want to work into my own project. Looks like a pretty darned handy rig to me with lots of potential.
