That looks like a nice car. Its an M30 six (AKA "Big Six").
Everything I said before goes double for that car...
Don't skimp on parts...

Great car you have there. I have an '89 635 5 speed.
I second the advice on the Pelican Parts forum. Theres a couple of others out there... Big Coupe Group comes to mind.
I also have an e28 5 series and spent most of my BMW forum time on mye28.com. Theres a ton of info there on the big six. A good bit mechanically swap between the e28 and the e24's.
For parts, try Brian at BMW of Chattanooga or Wayne at Pelican. Both are great guys and will help you out.

Re: Buying a second vehicle hmmm...
Well I dropped the cylinder head off at Headworks of Nashville on Friday. They quoted me 278$ plus any parts that need to be replaced. So far that's just 1 valve (#1 intake). They are replacing that 1 valve, resurfacing and polishing the other valves, re-cutting the seats, and resurfacing the deck to take care of a slight warpage. It should be brand new when I get it back.
Now I'll just have to find the $ to get it all back together.

Got the head back! 330$ after labor, parts for 1 bent intake valve, and tax.
