My nerves are finally settling, as all the painted pieces from the paint shop are now home in my shop without incident. 2 of my 4 brothers helped me move everything. I want to start bolting things together really bad, but I should be finishing the metal work on the bed, so it can get to the paint shop next. This is going to be a struggle, but I'll probably end up splitting the "want-to" work with the "must-do" work somehow.

Hey guys, thought I'd share my latest favorite picture. The cab safely back home from the paint shop, isn't she gorgeous? I just finished bending the transmission cooler lines, I have 2 quick welds to do on the exhaust, and the cab will be ready to set back on the chassis!



Now, my time "needs" to be focused on the bed, as I mentioned above. Do you guys think I should start another thread just for the bed rebuild? Like in Body & Paint, or should I just do it here and keep it all in one spot??

I would keep it all in one place. We have all been following along, anxious for final assembly. It would be nice to look through the progressive pages and watch it come together, just my .02 cents......

Thanks for the input guys! - that settles it, I'll just keep everything right here. I know that's how I prefer to read build threads, but I thought some guys may just want to see the bed stuff, but I guess that's what the search function is for, right? I guess this means I'll document the electrical system work here too. One thread - all parts Project Glory Days.

Thank you sir (tipped hat), And the bed floor wood is something I've been racking my brain about. (Suggestions welcome) I want something pretty light in color, because my interior is going to be lighter. I'm not a woodworking guy at all, so I've just been reading around trying to see what my choices might be. I do "have a guy" , a local trim and cabinet maker (he built all the cabinets for my house), I intend to tap his knowledge and advice, as well as have him plane and router the boards.

Now that you mention it, I met a guy in a parking lot a couple of weeks ago that had a stunning '52 Effie. He had done the bed in his with some scanvenged barn wood, planed and rubbed (extensively and with many applications) with tung oil. Looked great and didn't have the glossy finish that polyurethane/varnish has so scratching is easily repaired.
