How They Looked

Post by Atlas »

This is pretty much how they looked when they came off the factory floor , all original down to the paint, with 12,000 miles. My truck today ,in the warm Victoria,British Columbia sun, I still smile every time I drive her.

Yours would be the "2nd" best truck I believe I've ever seen here, (here's the "1st").

Thanks guys,

I have to agree with you on that Jeff, that's incredibly low miles , a museum piece for sure.

If you remember the story on how I acquired mine , I originally bought a 68 almost identical to this one. It had 4800 miles on it , that blew me away, this 69 had 7300 and change on it. I know where there is a very low mile one out there still, it's a "74" dually. I know I've posted it on here in the past before everything I ever posted was lost. So here it is again. This was for sale a year ago in Oregon up to a year ago, I don't know if it still is or not. I wish I had more room , this one is really nice . It still had the original tires on it and was never rigged with anything on the back yet.

Very cool pieces. Love those unmolested original trucks(ie: time capsules).

There was a '1970 F350 stake bed at Columbus swap meet last spring. It had 20K miles, very nice piece. They wanted $20K for it!! OUCH. Compared to a $60K version today, it's cheaper. But vinyl bench seat/4 spd and no A/C makes it kinda hard to compare apples to apples.
Bump'n along.

Atlas, your truck looks beautiful. I really like the color. Since the miles are so low and your driving it around some, I would be tempted to disconnect the speedo cable. I know, I know, it's a little dishonest. :shh:

Simply awesome truck Dave! Would you mind posting a few more pictures of her? It sure helps guys like me who are restoring one to see an example so perfect and unmolested. I'm familiar with the '70 that basketcase posted to above, but I also know that little differences exist based on where and when the trucks were made. Do you happen to know what factory your truck came from? Maybe an approx build date? Detail shots of the engine bay and interior, anything would be great. Again, beautiful truck and thanks for sharing!

Thanks guys , sorry for the delay in replying, I'm visiting family back east and internet is still dial-up so it takes time between visits to check emails etc. I will be happy to add more photos of the truck, as some of you may know, I've been a member for about three year and had hundreds of photos on my profile. But one fateful day my fordification identity was totally erased. It took the wind out of my sails a bit , but as the season winds down a little in the excavating business , I hope to visit more often.

tylerb43 , you are right trucks that were built at different plants, had their own unique identity, my truck was built in San Jose , California , when I get back home I'll check the build date from the Vin. My truck was the cover /feature in True Blue Trucks about a year ago (issue#7). I'll upload more photos when I'm on High speed again, after the 20th.

Popeyes71, the colour is called Harbour Blue in case you're wondering. I enjoy driving my truck regularly and feel that I should drive it, albeit not as a daily driver. It is used for pleasure and often I haul a motorcycle in the bed. I've owned it about 3 years now and have put about 5000 miles on it.

Thanks again , Dave
