F100 body on e350 frame.....????

Post by grebesbakery »

Alright guys this is an odd questions but I want to know if a F100 long bed body will fit on a e350 frame.....

The reason I'm even considering this bc the van has a healthy 7.3 powerstroke (95'), trans and the frame is in great shape. I know everything won't line up perfect, i'm sure body mounts will need to be moved and wiring will be interesting. As far as wheel base....they look almost exactly the same.....

What are your thoughts????

One sure way to find out...try it. Powerstroke Bump would be cool.

I did a swap and I would recommend you make sure exactly what the differences are before you start. You also have to consider steering linkage, shifter mechanism, gas tank issues(filler necks and height of tank), power brake booster, throttle linkage (cable to mechanical), park brake cables and wiper motor if you use the new harness. The frame is probably 3" wider (the trucks are) meaning that the box will not be a bolt on thing either.
Not trying to deter you from this, just saying you want to know what you are getting into before you wreck two vehicles. I did the swap because I am no mechanic. I know my limitations in that area. I am an automotive painter and am surrounded by body men that I got lots of info from before, during and after. They just won't shut up! :D
For me the swap was a great way to go and I have been driving it for 14 months now. The only issues I have had was a fuel pump went south and a burnt out headlight! nothing to do with the swap itself.
Good luck !

saw a 79 4x4 f250 come through my shop with a 6.9L IDI in it ther other day. it looks like the perches from the 6.9 truck welded up very easily to the 79's frame...
