Looking for my old crew cab in Oregon

Post by carbine2 »

This is a long shot but here it is. I had a 1972 Ford crew cab about 10 years back that I am trying to find for several reasons. I'd love to have it back. It went South to Winston near Roseburg with a guy I knew name Walter Milton. He went by the name of Randy most of the time. He traded it off to a friend or cousin who I'm told took it to Myrtle Creek just a little farther down the highway. The truck was originally yellow or orange but was painted white. It was a bit beat up and was missing the front right fender last time I saw it. It had a strait 6 and a 4 speed. It had cab marker lights on the roof also. I'm really into the old crew cabs these days and would love to have my first one back. Has anyone seen this truck anywhere? I don't expect to find it but these do tend to stand out. Even if it is in a junk pile in a field I'd love to see it again.

look for the vin then search for registration information. its a bit tricky to obtain but it would show the last registered owner of the truck even if it isn't currently tagged.

I am the last person it was registered to. Rumor has it they drove it until the tags expired, then swapped the vin and plates from a wrecked truck that had good tags. I don't know if that is true but it wouldn't surprise me.

It was stolen. The guy I mentioned came by to look at it and never returned from the test drive. Didn't figure I needed to worry about it since I know his wife. The Portland police told me to wait a couple of weeks and if it didn't show up then they would do a report. Two weeks later I'm told it has been too long. The DMV won't list it as stolen without the report. I thought about reporting it stolen now as if it just happened but that could cause issues since that is not true. It was stolen 10 years ago. I still have the title.

Holy crap that is heartbreaking. Good luck! Any pictures of it? There are not a ton of these around and if it has any "identifiable marks" maybe it could be found again. It is likely not registered as a crewcab anymore if the vins were swapped, maybe not even aa bump anymore.

No pictures. Didn't figure I'd have a need for them and it was just my utility truck. I have no idea what year the "donor truck" was. I had lost the trail by then. Rumor has it they were converting it to 4X4. As big of a job as that is I'm not so sure. The only features I can think of that set this one apart from the rest are cab top marker lights, no hole for antenna on cowl, and a flat thick piece of steel welded at an angle on each side of the bed to hold the bed strait. These welded reinforcements are visible if the tail gate is open. They are at the rear and were used as a way to keep the bed sides from bending out when the gait was open. It was a well used truck.
The sad part is, if it is still around it is likely owned by someone that has no idea it is stolen. I don't have any need to get anyone in trouble but it is still my truck. Probably in a junk yard by now.
