interior room 67-72 vs 80-96
on a reg cab, how much difference,if any, is there as far as interior room, leg room, etc between the 67-72 and the 80-96 trucks? i'm 6' 1" and want to build a bump as a dd.

Re: interior room 67-72 vs 80-96
The older stuff is a couple inches shorter to the dash and wheel. Our trucks were designed for a tougher working crowd, manual steering needed a larger wheel closer to your chest and brakes needed all the help they could get. The dents started the longer cab trend.
As far as a DD goes, when my '71 F250 was on the road I didn't mind driving it and I'm 6'7" or so. The truck was actually a pretty comfortable no frills ride in traffic and on the interstate. The only real limit is these things were built to run 50mph and the old 360 was buzzing at 70 on the interstate.

thanks. guess i'm going to have to go find a few and sit in them. i figure a 302 or 351 with an overdrive and ac should do pretty good and tow my car as well.

I'm 6'3 and always thought bumps are a great fit for taller guys. They actually have leg room, your knees aren't crammed against the dash. The Ford seats are pretty comfy too.

Exactly, im 6'2 and I enjoy the leg room. I like having the steering wheel closer to my chest so im not slouching to reach for the wheel. I can maintain a very comfortable and good driving posture.averagef250 wrote:I'm 6'3 and always thought bumps are a great fit for taller guys. I also have a 96 F150(80-96 body style) and it's comfortable but there is less leg room since the floor pans arc upward much sooner. And the trans hump is much bigger.

Also forgot about the cab height/windshield height! Bumps have a nice tall windshield so you're not staring at the windshield seal.

Re: interior room 67-72 vs 80-96
i am 6-2 and i always liked the comfort of these trucks, I have only one thing to add that if you were to change to anything other than the original seat, the angles start to get a little off and gets a bit uncomfortable. The bench seat from a ranger or ranger xlt dent truck has a little bit more foam padding and a bit wider than the bumps, makes em a little more plush.

Same as everyone above said. I'm 6'3" and I have great head room and leg room. It's not as comfortable to set in the middle with the hump but that is like all trucks

I'm 6'9" and feel comfortable behind the wheel of my 67. That said, I wouldn't mind an extra couple inches, but if I really gave a rip, I could pull out the rear fuel tank, and just use the auxiliary tank.
