Is this for real?

Post by mcheath »

This truck has been on Craigslist in Calif for several weeks now. Here is the entire description:

"Very rare 1966 1/2 F-100 short bed fleetside. Runs good, looks good, and is currently registered on a non-op. Very easily restored."

He wants $9,950 bucks.

I've never heard of a 66 1/2 bumpside, but then I'm no expert. Is this really a rare truck?

It can be anything the seller wants to call it, however...

It doesn't look like anything special, just a cludge of different year parts.

Rear view mirrors didn't get glued to the wind shields until 1968. Before this, it would have been mounted to the ceiling between the visors.

Red stripe across the middle of the grille was a one year only thing --1969.

MIGHT be a "1966-1/2" but if so, has parts from other year models on it. So, NOT original.

My guess is the seller got taken by someone when they bought it. It's a pretty truck though, and looks to have 9k worth of work and parts in it. Someone will hit it I'm sure, but it's a pity it's advertised so incorrectly.

And the "Fleetside" made me chuckle a bit. Usually only the Stepside/Flareside get mixed up.
