Nope..... the trucks over 40yrs old, you're hotrodding it by using new, better parts thats how i see it...if a horn counts as hotrodding, which it probably does as long as the horn performs better than the stock unit  .... unless you're doing an all paintmarks correct style resto...then it is sacrilege for sure
- still got my first first car 20+yrs later : 69 f100 sorta kinda pretending its a Mercury M100 w/a 70 f350 sport custom cab (factory buckets) 67 grille with 69 ranger cooneyes 68 merc box and hood, some supercool fiberglass fenders i scored way back when, 76 f150 disc brake frontend..currently running a 90 5.0HO 4bbl/c4 auto & 3.50 posi...originally a 360/c6 f100 Ranger with dealer added towpack (incl. kelsey hays trailer brake),boxside toolbox, behind the seat stowage & belly tank...only original parts left on 'er are the frame, rear end, rear springs, and rear bumper...

I do agree with a chevy in a chevy, ford in a ford ,mopar in a mopar, etc.., but if it comes down to putting a hemi ( 1st gen 2sd gen not the new gens as much))in your ride ,,the hemi wins hands down what ever the ride is

none Ford motors like the Buick Nailhead , Chevy 348,409 W Series motor, 1st gen Hemi ,Olds Rocket motor are all good looking motors to put in a early ford ! I think these are the only Exceptions[/quote]

Agreed.

i am a heathen from way back and i'll use any bygawd part that works or is available--screw all that one manufacturer train of thought--they are pickup trucks--not idols 8)

I don't see a problem with it. Try suggesting putting a Ford motor in a Chevy at a show and see how long your nose stays unbroken though. Those guys are way too serious.

I'm fine with anything American it as long as it improves function. I've got a set of horns out of an early '90s Caddy waiting to be mounted in my Focus, and I'd definitely like to find a set of GM saddle tanks out of a 73-87 C/K series truck to put in my bump. I prefer to keep engines as original as possible though.

I try to avoid parts and materials made in totalitarian Communist countries with a long history of egregious human rights violations.

I don't like crossing builders, but in light of the number of Fords running around with small block chevys in them, I could let this one go. :D

No. I've had a GM one wire alternator with regulator in mine for 25+ years. Like others have said, "they're just trucks".
