Re: Enjoying Your Old Ford Truck
Man, what a day! We headed out this morning to ride the back roads & take some snapshots. The first shot i wanted to take, i realized we left the freaking camera at home. We continued on & behold, we were driving by a 67-72 & 73-79 Ford truck junk yard. Really nice seventy two year old gentleman let me look around his shop & junkyard which specializes in old stuff, particulary Ford trucks. Said he has another place he doesn't allow the public to see & it is 60 acres of old Fords & cars.
I'm really in Ford heaven by now just listening to his stories of how he started collecting old Ford car & trucks fifty years ago. He did agree to let me take some photos of the sixty acre lot at sometime in the future.
While I was there, i remembered i needed a radio bezel for the old flareside & asked if i could look for one. He gave the ok & i with toolbox in hand walked over to a '69 F100 & no bezel. Looked inside four more '68-'69 trucks & no bezel. The sixth truck, a '68 F100 flatbed was the charm. I removed it & went back to the office to pay for it. The old man said, you seem like a nice guy & you're driving my favorite brand truck, therefore it's no charge for the bezel.
Now i've priced these bezels from several companies & they're selling for $75.00. I consider myself very fortunate to get one for free. Wasn't a bad day after all considering i forgot my camera. Have A Great Ford Day!

I always say I've seen it all & then come upon something that blows me away. I've seen hundreds of brush guards during my life, but none like the attached. Homemade from rebar & painted silver. What was this guy thinking.

Got cabin fever today so the wife & I went out for a drive, in the '69 Ranger, and took a few photos of the old truck at various locations along the way.

It sure looks ugly, but the grille is perfect. The grille did its job! Someone ought to buy that grille!68 Ford Stepside wrote:I always say I've seen it all & then come upon something that blows me away.
