Old Mexico & Old Ford Trucks

Post by 68 Ford Stepside »

I've been noticeing that the mexicans that work around here get a glisten in thier eye when i pass by them in the old flareside. A mexican farm worker told me the other day my truck makes him think of his homeland. He said at least fifty percent of the old ford trucks ever produced are in old Mexico right now. I never really thought about it, but that is unreal.

Back in the late '70s and early '80s we spent a lot of tome in rural Baja and it was FULL of old fords. That was one of the reasons I built my truck as I planed on spending a lot of time there and support is
available in any small town  It is a shame that the drug cartels are running the show they are destroying a beautiful country and the lives of some great people :x

Some of the trucks arrived legally in the County. Seems that those folks can fix anything to make it last forever.

I bought mine in Mexico. :) The bill of sale showed that it was last registered in Garland TX.

I've got a all Mexican yard crew that has been mowing my yard for years. Other than them mowing my yard, and then coming to my door to collect the money, I hadn't ever really talked to them much (because of the language barrier.) But, when I started restoring my 67' F100, it would be sitting outside in the driveway, and they started talking to me about the truck. And it is just like you said... they love them. One of them explained, in Mexico, they all have a truck. and that the classic Chevys and Fords are what everyone wants. They mow my yard every Saturday, and I now spend 10-15 minutes talking to them about my truck as they check out all the new progress.
