Being bored

Post by 1982 flareside »

The other day after work I decided to clean up some part off the old 360. I was wondering in my 360 it has 390 4v on the side of the piston I heard that 390 piston was different then 360. I also was clean up my heads and rockers arms.

The 360 used the 390 pistons in the truck engines. The crank and rods created a different stroke to make the displacement difference. Which is why the only good way to tell a 360 from a 390 is to measure the stroke. Thats the only internal difference in the engines. There was also a difference in the car engines I believe. The pin heights and skirts on the pistons were different in the car engines if I recall correctly.
