Vin tag

Anyone know of a place or an individual that can provide a vin tag for a 68-69 f100?
Our sheriffs department recently obtained a swb 4x4 with a 360 or 390 manual.
I've looked for the vin stamping on the frame and neither are there, this would be a fun ride considering all it needs is paint and would be ready to chase felons into the roughest woods .

The local salvage yards here are full of chebbys or we would try there.

We have 540 miles of roadway, 6 crown Vicks, 2 military hummers, several atv's and boats.

My vin tag is located on the drivers door.

On the vehicle, the vin is on a tag on the driver's door, and also stamped on the top of the frame on the passenger side down between the alt and the starter (probably covered in dirt, grime, and oil). Scrape the top of the frame with a wire brush and the VIN will appear. There is a third spot on the frame as well, but I believe you have to take the cab off to see it.

Once you find the vin on the frame, you can order a new door tag from http://www.martiauto.com/tags.cfm who are authorized Ford distributors for the old vehicles.

I'm aware of the drivers door vin plate and frame stampings as I've owned 4 bumps myself, these have been removed because theirs nothing there. This truck was taken during a bust, two options are: obtain a vin so it may be auctioned off or send to the crusher..

It may be a stolen truck. Would be nice to find the VIN, run it on the DMV hot sheet & get it returned to the rightful owner. I wish everyday some law enforcement division would call to tell me they found my truck. No matter what condition its in, i want it back.

On 4wd it's behind the front passenger side axle, top of the frame rail, below where the seat would be.

Also, I think I recall there being something behind or around the heater box on the firewall ????
