The Saga Of My Pa & STP
My Pa was a hard working good guy. He had a 1972 Ford F100 he bought brand new. Probably had about ninety thousand miles on it doing farm work & some commercial fishing. One of my uncles told Pa if he put a can of STP in the old Ford it would probably run another 100,000 miles easy. He wasn't crazy about changing anything as the truck had been trouble free, but in a moment of weakness he poured in the STP. He headed out on the farm & within two or three miles the oil light came on. When the oil pan was removed the oil pump screen was completely stopped up with STP. I don't remember him ever using that crap in an engine again.

Re: The Saga Of My Pa & STP
don't know much about oils besides what is recommended for different vehicles but as far as the STP, i have heard more con's than pro's. Years ago my father & law was told to use it and he lost oil pressure. He was told to add about a quart of kerosene and run it for about 20 minutes then change oil. It must have worked because the oil pressure came back to normal. He drove it for years after.

Re: The Saga Of My Pa & STP
I'm not one to believe in additives. I grew up traveling all over this country and canada in my 69ford f100. My dad always put STP in it. I remember him heating the can on the [censored] stove just to get it to pour.
I do not know the milage the odometer say 27,000 Probaly 127,000. Never been rebuilt took the valve covers off and the valve train was spotless. Runs top notch not an oil burner. STP did not hurt this motor.
