F600/800 Instrument Clusters

Post by ultraranger »

I took off work today so I can take my wife to the doctor this afternoon. Since I didn't have anything to do this morning, I made a trip to the bone yard and found several F600/F800 Instrument clusters. These are a couple that I grabbed. The one on the left is from a Bumpside F600 & the one on the right is from a Dentside F800.

Nice scores and great saves!! Those are the thing I just never run across in the local junkyards here in SoCal. Nothing larger than an F250 ever makes it in there. I have no idea where the larger trucks go.

There was a '68/'69 F7000 with what would have been a nice instrument cluster if not for the fact that some idiot had drilled 3 random holes on the lower right portion of the panel. (stupid).

There was another instrument panel in a '68 or '69 F600 in really good shape. I asked one of the yard workers about the price of it. His price was higher than I was willing to pay. I'll go back when the wrecking yard owner (Billy) is there to ask about it again. Maybe he will give a better quote on it.

...I'm at the doctor's office with my wife now. If there's time when we get out if here, there's another wrecking yard about 4 miles from my house I'd like to check out. I know there are a number of old, big Ford trucks out there.

WOW! It must be salvage yard day. The better half & I went to the salvage yard this morning & picked up one F600 & one F700 cluster. Also picked up a left & right headlight bezel for the old flareside. :)

I did make it to the other wrecking yard (I mentioned) after the wife and I got done with her doctors appointment). In fact, I just got home from there a few minutes ago.

I got a cluster from a '76 F600, another one from a '73-up model F600 (couldn't open the driver's side door to see the tag to know exactly what year model it was), and I got a cluster from a '72 F600. (5 instrument clusters in all today). :)

People collect all sorts of things, but instrument clusters is something new to collect. LOL! :)

I saw some clusters today I really liked, but have no need for. I looked at three cab over trucks & the clusters are loaded down with gauges. Have A Great Ford Day!

I may keep one for my '69 F100 Ranger. The rest I'll sell ...or possibly use for barter material.

When you're industrious and not rich, you have to use your head to be able to scratch out a living to afford the things for supporting what you want to do with your toys.

Those things will sell for $50-$75 all day long here. And if you have patience on eBay, you can probably get over $100 each but I prefer to sell my extra parts here to folks that I can relate to, and then get to see how the parts live on in their projects. I can't keep all the extra parts, but can't stand the thought of them getting crushed either. So I find myself saving parts that I don't need just so I can make sure someone that needs them gets them. I sure don't make much money on anything I resell, just ask anyone here that has bought anything off of me.. lol The shipping is almost more money than what I ask for the actual part!

But those dash panels are nice!! Step-side, I really like the 2 you pulled as well! You got both types of speedometer and tach graphics! I personally like the left one better as it just looks so much more "old school". But unfortunately, I have the newer looking graphics on the right and at this point, I am not going to re-do my dash as I have too much money into it as I bought aftermarket gauges to go with that graphic styling.

I'll trade someone a '69 ranger grille for one of those clusters.
Here are some pics of it: pictures

Awesome score on the clusters guys! They're still out there, just have to know where to look and not be afraid to get your hands dirty.
On a side note: Somewhere here on the site Keith provided a "wish list" of all the other hard to find parts for our trucks, (I remember it included the beltline moulding) to look out for while in the boneyards. It's a list of all the obsolete parts for our trucks that you seldom see, so grab the part when you find it.
Sure wish the search engine worked as it used to... :bdh:

I didn't get a chance to post pictures of the other (3) clusters I got earlier in the week, since it was dark by the time I had gotten home with the other three. Here are all (5) I got last Wednesday.
