I have had some I 6 engines and was surprised how much power it had even stock. I wont be giving up my 360 for it but if I had a truck with a I 6 in it I would keep it cause they can be wolf in sheeps clothing engines.

Want power and Mpgs? Efi 5.0 or 5.8. After your done hooping up the 6 you will be getting the same Mpgs as a 5.0 or worse. My buddy use to have a 95 f150 2wd with a 300 that got 11 Mpgs... On a good day.... Down hill... I had a 90 bronco with a 351 and got 12 and could pull his truck to the scrap pile.....

A member built a 300 to replace his 360 hopeing for more power and mileage, He wasn't impressed with the power and didn't get better mileage. He sold the truck and said he wished he had built a 460 instead.

Im leaning towards a 521 stroked 460 with aluminum scj heads or a 466 or 435 with dove heads.

I vote for a 460, at least that is what is going in my truck. You can't get the same exhaust note from a 6 banger as a v8. 351 might be a better choice if you want better fuel milage.

It depends on what side of the percentile you are on. At least 92% of americans want a bigger paycheck, a bigger house, a bigger truck & a bigger engine in that truck. If you lean toward that 92% you will be with the majority & the majority rules except in the case of politics. :) Have A Great Ford Day!

If you're asking for thoughts or opinions, I would suggest a 351W stroker. Depending on block obtained, rod length, etc., you could have up to 454 cubic inches with the 351W. You get big-block power without the actual big-block weight penalty. More working room under the hood and a lot of modern overdrive transmission choices (manual or automatic) to choose from that will bolt right to the block without adapter plates.

A well built 300/6 will move quite well, and with decent fuel economy.
Lots of V8 rat-rods out there. The inlines definitely have more of an old-school look, IMO.

Ok IM selling all the 460 parts I have but the ignition and new cam kit and buying 68 Tbird block and 429 crank, heads ported to scj size and aluminum intake also ported to scj size and a set of scj rods form my brother so I will have a 600hp 429.

I think you would be better of buying a 460 crank IMO. You'll have a better selection of pistons at a cheaper price.

I have done several hot rod sixes, mostly old GMC's and one 300. I guess it is what you want at this moment in history. I enjoyed my sixes, they sound freak'in awesome, and in a light veihicle with gears to take advantage of the torque they are quite quick. Its fun to smoke a V8 with a six, and if you lose you have an excuse.

I always went the multiple carburator, big cam route but if I did it again I would do it with boost. And a big cam.

I just don't see this model truck as a candidate for a modified six, but maybe thats because I have a 460 in mine. But it just seems historically incorrect. The one I did a 300 in was an 83 150, and it just wasn't the same as a 50's truck/car with a 6. And if you already have the parts......
