Finding good parts can sometimes not be an easy task. I stopped by a restoration shop today & noticed a 1966 big block Fairlane sitting under a shed. The guy said it had been there for over five years waiting on a front clip.I told him he was in luck because I had seen one at M.B.'s. If they get together on a price, the old "390" Fairlane might once again be seen cruisin' down the road. :)

That would be sweet. It breaks my heart to see old American iron rotting away.

Other than Arizona, I think it would be very hard to find a true completely rust free cab. These cabs are forty years old & not too many have been kept in a climate controlled facility. :)

I found a truck in a junkyard that broke my heart once. it was a seafoam green single cab long bed Custom. Not a dent on it, 390, auto, PS/PB, the seat had the normal wear and tear, dash was cracked, and the rubber floor was pretty worn, but it was mostly all there. the grill had been taken, as well as the colum and steering wheel. the paint was worn and nicely patina'd. and there was only a little surface rust on the hood and bedsides, as well and the "arm wear" line below the window. i decided to root thru the truck, to see if i could find any info on it. i looked in the glove box, and found the original owners card, with an adress in Portland, OR., a bunch of maintenance recipts, and insurance card (it was about 3 years expired. the thing that amazed me and broke my heart at the same time, was THE NAME ON THE ORIGINAL OWNERS CARD AND THE INSURANCE CARD WAS THE SAME!!!! someone scrapped a beautifully clean, RUST FREE 1 OWNER BUMP!

I wanted to save it from a certian crusher's fate, but i lacked the funds and the space to do it.

That is a really neat place! Thanks for sharing pictures with all of us. I've stumbled across very places like that. I hope they'll be around as long as they can, but it's a little sad to think that in 20-30 years, there's not going to be much left of old trucks sitting in the woods like these(even in the south).

A couple more candidates for a full on restoration. If I was twenty five years younger & in good health, both of these would be in my shop for a serious redo. :)

M.B. tells me he has gotten a few calls from people who mentioned my name. That's a good thing. Maybe he'll cut me a break when I need a truck part.

Hope to head out to M.B.'s with my son as soon as a warmer day gets here. I want to pickup two doors & a hood & store them for future use. If I was much younger I would pull the 460 & C6 trans out of a '75 Lincoln he has & store it for future rebuild & use. :)
