Headlight Cleaner ?
My wifes car and my daughters car both have foggy looking headlights. I have tried the Turtle wax brand, using the different grits of paper, and some brand that uses the liquid paste and a ball that is used with a drill.
Neither done any good. A buddy said he used 2000 grit paper and wet sanded his with great results. My daughter tried this and said her results weren't very impressive.
So, does anyone have a brand or process they would recommend to clear up these lights. I can hardly tell the difference between bright and dim on them anymore.

I'd tried the powerball with Meguiars with about the same results. Made it much clearer-for about one month! There's so...many sellers on evilboy that sell new lenses now, that'll be my "next time".

Re: Headlight Cleaner ?
On my 2006 Camry I got hit in a parking lot and busted passenger light so when body shop fixed damage and put new light in they had to polish out other light to match. They said they wet sanded with 2000 and buffed out with compound and polish. Looked great for about two months. Then started turning. I ask other body shops what I needed to do to keep them from turning. They said there is a sealer that you can apply to them about every six months and they will stay looking good. Can't remember what the name was,but they said when I got ready they would order me some. It is about $30.00 but is enough to do many headlights. They said they would guarantee it to work. I just need to get the headlight looking like the newer one again first.

permatex headlight restoration kit
http://www.permatex.com/products/produc ... kit-detail
i've used this a few times now ,it was pretty cheap and worked pretty well
did the old lady's aerostar 2 yrs ago and the lenses are just starting to go foggy again now
my old 87 f250's lenses were brutally yellowed, they cleaned up pretty good ,not quite like new but not too shabby and they stayed that way for over a year

Micheal, that's good info to know about the sealer-and makes perfect sense to me.
Whateverman, two years would be more than one could ask out of a restoration kit as far as I'm concerned. Bookmarked!

This is all good info to have.
Michael, since my daughter already has the paper, I'll try that. Reckon you could get name of the compound and sealer?
Thanks everybody for the replies.

Spar Urethane diluted with mineral spirits applied with a folded shop towel after 1000/1500/2000 sandpaper and toothpaste on a cottom towel. The urethane is a UV protectant that's a lot like the OEM stuff.
Sylvania makes a kit for $25 with most of the stuff in it but I needed more 2000 grite sandpaper. Truely amazing results.

Re: Headlight Cleaner ?
My wife's '98 Lumina's headlights actually felt rough to the touch! They were practically decomposing! Nothing would do any good until I started wet sanding with 500 grit, then 800, then 1200, then 1600, then 2000. I then hit them with my Meguire's powerball for headlights to bring back the shine, then finish them off with a couple coats of wax to help seal them. We can see sooooo much better at nighttime now! I do have to run the powerball back over them once or twice a year to keep them in shape.

No problem Michael.I know how the running is at holidays. We've been doing Christmas since last Friday. Through 2 states.
Plus my 71 was down a couple of days taking up my time. So a few more days doesn't matter. I'm off til Jan. 2 anyway.
