Ford Factory Recalls

Post by 68 Ford Stepside »

I never realized it or thought about factory recalls very much. Man, was I enlightened today by the service manager at my local Ford dealer. I took the wife's Ford Five Hundred in for a recall & started a conversation with the service manager about recalls. I asked him how soon did I have to bring in the car for the work. He said recalls are good for the lifetime of the car. I said, are you saying I could bring in a 1917 Ford Model T or my '68 Ford F100 Flareside & you would have to make good on any recalls it ever had. He said yes, it's federal law. He said if I bring in my F100, the serial number would be checked to insure that any recalls had or had not been done. He said they do recalls on old vehicles all the time & finding parts for them is sometimes interesting. All I can say is Go Ford! Go Ford! Go Ford! :)

the oldest vehicle we've done since ive been at ford is an 80's motorhome. something with the EGR tube/valve on the 460. and we all know how 30 year old exhaust fittings like to come apart. lol.
