Custom Bump Truck Bed Trailer Ideas

I'm wanting to make a custom Bump truck bed trailer and I don't know quite which way to go yet and I'm hoping you guys may have some good input.

I'll be building a custom frame with real trailer axles so none of that will be and issue. My dilemma comes from the length of the trailer I want to build. I want a trailer that is about 12' in length. Obviously, I'll have to weld two beds together, but I'm torn between going with a single axle or a double axle and the exact placement of the axle(s). I won't be hauling anything a single axle can't handle so it will come down to aesthetics. Maybe you guys have seen this done before and have some advice.

PS - Some people reading this may be thinking I should just go buy a 12 foot trailer. Well, I already have a very nice 16 foot double axle trailer. This has nothing to do with need or sticking to a sensible budget for a trailer. It's something I want, because I think it will look sweet when I'm on my way to Home Depot.

Personally, I like the looks of the double axle with the crew. If it was a single cab, I'd say the single axle but the crew is worthy of the beefier look.

That's my favorite too. I'm not sure if I will be able to put the axles that far apart, though. I'm thinking if I do a double axle, that I may have to have one larger wheel well opening, which won't look that great.

I agree. I like the look of the double axle trailer behind that crew cab. When you build this, take LOTS of pics and make a build thread out of it!
I would try and get two long beds for the project. It is easier to cut down what you don't need. The dual axle trailer also has the advantage of reducing the load on your trailer hitch. If you put something heavy towards the front of the single axle trailer, it's going to put a lot more load on the hitch than would the double. That would pull the back end of the truck down, and lighten up the front end, possibly causing unsafe steering conditions.
I would go with the double axle for a trailer that long.
