Gave my F 100 Camper Special to a good friend as a housewarming gift, and he was able to come pick it up a couple days ago.
Which is where the fun started. The last time it had driven was back in February or March, and I'd started to clean up and disconnect weird funky wiring in hopes of tidying it back up and putting in an original radio and ignition switch.
Then I found a "parts truck" that I liked better than the CS, and gave the CS to my friend.
So he and his father came down to look things over, reconnect the ignition system and drive it back. That's when we started finding fun problems like no fuel getting to the carb, and a bad ignition solenoid. And of course it was dark, and raining by the time this was diagnosed, so he called AAA and had the truck towed back to his place where the niggling electrical and fuel issues can be easily and more leisurely addressed.

LOL!
Sounds like my kind of luck!!

When in doubt, hit the gas. It may not be the right answer, but at least it ends the suspense!!

Wasn't so bad since he was able to just get it towed back.

True.
When I bought my Mustang back in High School, it had been sitting for about 5 years. Guy said "Oh yeah, she runs fine." Yeah. Best Friend and I rolled down there (about 50 miles) in his 72 F-100 to pick it up. We get there, a tire had gone flat since I looked at it, the battery was toast (brought one of those fortunately), and the carb was so laquered up that it would not start..or stay running when we got it started with ether. We ended up hooking a tow strap to it and towing it home. We left for home at about midnight. It was a blast! (NOT)
