Does any desktop have the ability to power such 100W receiver as I've thought of doing the same thing, (go to a much larger monitor-then netflix someday).

Pretty much so. The output will vary to the sound card the puter has, but most will drive an amp
just fine. I've been doing it with various amps for years. This JVC I'm using now is 5 channel, but
I've never got around to adding rear channels, nor have I used a subwoofer. But the Advents sound
pretty good. My three front channels are 100w a ch, but I think my two rear channels are 50w a
channel if I remember right. The center channel would normally be used for a sub woofer I think.
One thing I like about the Advents, is that they are very uncolored and natural sounding.
IE: I've had phones ring on tee vee, and though it was mine...
Not only does it make music and movies sound big, but also makes my flight sim sound a lot better..
IE: when I decel with the 737, you can hear that slight rumble from the engines when the N speeds
start dialing down. I've heard that same sound in real world 737's..
With music, it's loud enough to rattle the walls if I crank it.
BTW, most of the time, I use the "TAPE" input on the amp. That's the one I'm using on this
JVC.
