Dream truck
I have a 1969 SWB Styleside truck that I love but I can't modify it because I want to keep it like it is - since my grandfather bought it new in 1969.
However, if I were rich, I would like to have a 1969 Flareside and I would hunt down the rare options like the Onan generator, the bucket seats, storage compartment behind the seats and add those, plus I would swap in a Crown Vic IFS with disc brakes and an automatic with a tilt wheel. Why the Onan generator? No reason, other than just the fact that they are rare. I realize it would not be necessary and just extra weight.
What would yours be?

Re: Dream truck
I am going to try to build my dream truck-with one exception-with the truck I own now. 1967 Swb styleside with no frills, I may even weld the radio hole shut. Flat black exterior with no chrome or trim. All black interior with a cloth bench. Old school slot mags, 15x8.5 in the front-15x10 in the back with 275-60-15 and 305-60-15s. Stock ride height. 408 stroker runnning victor jr. heads and intake, trick flow stage 3 cam, and a 750 edelbrock carb. Full length headers feeding dual 3" exhaust exiting through custom holes punched in the lower driver's bedside. I would LOVE to run a 6 speed, but since my wife might drive it, I'm running a built AOD.

Re: Dream truck
i'd hafta try doing it with my ol' pig ....come to think of it thats what i've been trying to do forever now....over that time its gotten alot closer to what i would have ordered if i was in the market for a pickup a few years before i was born, but its still nowhere near a dream truck...
anyways ideally the poor old thing would be chopped into a shortbox, lowered slightly,i'd hafta have some cragar ss's on it
for motorvation:a 427cu in windsor would fit the bill (i'd settle for a nice 300hp 5.0 though),3.70ish posi (yeah i know its chivvy speak) 8.8" rearend, and a beefed up c-4 with a gear vendors overdrive behind it
i'd keep the factory buckets i have right now,but get em reupholstered in cloth or something cuz the vinyl just doesn't quite do it for me, and tilt steering...yeah that'd be nice ...and ditch the transit bus steering wheel for a mustang one..also a decent stereo with the speakers actually mounted properly somewhere rather than just plopped haphazardly wherever there's room for em would be a good thing too...and power windows and doorlocks
as for the body:i'd lose all the emblems, blast it grabber blue, tint the crap outta the windows and call er done

- still got my first first car 20+yrs later : 69 f100 sorta kinda pretending its a Mercury M100 w/a 70 f350 sport custom cab (factory buckets) 67 grille with 69 ranger cooneyes 68 merc box and hood, some supercool fiberglass fenders i scored way back when, 76 f150 disc brake frontend..currently running a 90 5.0HO 4bbl/c4 auto & 3.50 posi...originally a 360/c6 f100 Ranger with dealer added towpack (incl. kelsey hays trailer brake),boxside toolbox, behind the seat stowage & belly tank...only original parts left on 'er are the frame, rear end, rear springs, and rear bumper...

Re: Dream truck
First, '69 highboy, big block ford (Mine's running a mild build non-CJ 429), 4 speed. Plans are to get the factory radio back in it, get rid of the old bondo job the PO did, cut out what little rust I have and replace it with fresh steel, do a good paint job in the same deep-teal color that's on it now (or a stock variant close to it), and track down some factory buckets (but I'll settle for a factory bench). For the time being, I'm running it like it is and enjoying it, but I want to do a period correct resto-mod on it to get it back to simple. When the big block gives up the ghost, it'll be either a cummins or 300 for nice torque.
2nd, I want a '65-'66 slick F-100 shortbox, and do a period correct fuel economy build. A nice running six cyl, with a 4 speed and an overdrive unit, with fairly tall gears in the axle. But keep it fairly stock, shooting for higher teens in MPG, but just a nice driver overall.

Re: Dream truck
I can't possibly narrow it down to one so I'll just say a FORD! I have owned (still own a few!) a Ford truck from every decade from the 1950's to the 2000's and I still own a '56, a '69, a '70, and a '95. I'd love to have one of every generation but that'd take a winning lottery ticket also!
