Hey everyone!
I am new to this form, but as a loyal F150 customer for many years I am hoping someone here can help.
My father in law just purchased a 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Convertible Sunliner. Not the hard top.
The Data plate on the drivers door says "Ford Motor Company of Canada Limited Oakville Ontario" and has a very different VIN number than any of the 1957 Ford Fairlanes that I have seen. Also from my understanding the 1957 Ford Fairlane 500s were made in Michigan, correct?
Question is: Did he get taken? Is this a Canada model and they took the Ford Fairlane 500 numbers and letters and just stuck them to the side of the car? The VIN # is 476BK57-582043 and all the of Data plate decorders i have found on the Internet don't work with it. Any help or a point in the right area would be appreciated. KCCO!

I don't know the answer myself but i know a site that would probally be the best help with it. Not saying that anybody here can't give you help with your question.
http://www.network54.com/Index/10214 You have to create and account and wait a few days for a reply. The FE came out in 58 so im sure someone there has the answer to help you. Lots of knowledge there and here. They just have a few years on most of us
BTW:
We want to see the convertible,,,, Did it come with a 312 ?

Try the folks over at Mac's Auto Parts. I think you could ask those folks for a breakdown. My '59 Edsel Corsair is also a Canadian car, my Parents ordered it and bought it new. It was delivered to our local Ford Dealership as a new '59 in the late fall of 1958. I was 8 years old when I watched it being unloaded from the car carrier. Your Ford is number 582,043 off the assembly line. The first 7 digits indicate body style, year and rear axle ratio. Good Luck!
