I've Decided On My Next Car...

Don't worry.. I'm not planning on selling the bump. But once I sell the BMW, a Porsche 944/951 will hopefully be my next car. More of a crazy stupid dream but if I had the money I'd buy that car right now.

Yeah I know they're expensive.. It is a Porsche after all. And the BMW just isn't back together yet. I should have the short block back in it by tonight. Maybe even get the cylinder head torqued down and intake on.

I think it's awesome that the guy kept good maintenance records on his car, but what he paid for the maintenance is entirely irrelevant. Don't expect to get a pat on the back for having overpaid for normal operating and maintenance requirements.

His maintenance operation descriptions are very generic.

He doesn't say if it runs. The A/C compressor has been removed, but he didn't say it had been replaced or bypassed; therefore, I assume that the car is missing a pulley and doesn't run.

Also, if you're the kind of person who runs separate summer and winter tires, shouldn't you know, and post, exactly what size/model tires they are and the number of miles on them? For example, my summer wheels are equipped with Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Specs in 215-40R17. They have exactly 11,679 miles and one Autocross day on them, during which time they were rotated three times. If the guy is anal enough to have two sets of wheels and to post every maintenance he's had done on the car since he bought it, he should know what kind of tires he has.

Your BMW is a better car. At least you already know about it's demons. A 944 is not a Porsche.

I must say that everything I've heard about the Porsche 944 is good stuff, it is a sturdy car with great driving pleasure. I think it's a good buy.

Crazy choice of vehicles if you ask me.
That's a lot of money for a 26 year old Porsche. It's not like it's a classic.
Not trying to be a jerk, just saying.

:yt: I must agree 944 is not a Porsche. Not a real one anyway.

Not sure I'd agree that it isn't a real Porsche, the later ones were quite fast with good dynamics... that said this one isn't a late one. I think this one has the 2.5l and its been quite some time since I drove one but my recollection is that itis quite ...umm... agricultural.

I agree the BMW is probably a better car.

I also find it telling that he mentions several "flaws" yet there are no pictures of them...

A car without air conditioning would never work here in Texas. A buddy of mine in Dallas had a black 944 with A/C but it was anemic. It was like riding in an oven!

It's really more of an new irresponsible desire of mine to have a 944.. I realize that the parts prices are sky high, and that I would be needing them seeing as how it would be a 30 year-old poor man's porsche designed in the 80s, but I wouldn't mind owning one..
