LETS Step back to 1968, its 2013 now thou

Post by FLASH 1 »

Last trip on the road picking up few trucks, I wonder if this is what it might have looked like back in the late 60's ??? 2 of them F-250 trucks, one a F100 4x4 trucks, one a 67 with all 72 sheetmetal from front to back, not often I find 3 of the same body style bump trucks

I know Chris we run the wheels off the truck, picture was taken at the T/A in Wilcox AZ., 3 rd trip since Christmas, trouble is we keep trying to save as many from the crusher as possible.. I can't be everplace at one time
papabug71 the rollback is F-650, 6.7 Cummins, which most times it's always loaded down from 38,000 to 41,000 lbs Chris has seen in person I know,, cowbay your welcome on the steering shaft, good that it works, one thing cannot cut corners on the steering shaft cause thats your life and others your messing with...

Crap. I didn't even look at your signature. It was right there.

How is the 6.7 doing? I have a co worker that had one in a 09 Dodge ton rig & it was a nightmare. Now, when it would run right, it would pull anything you could hook to it, but it was literally in the shop more than it was at his house. He finally traded it in on a Ford diesel ton rig.

We have had 1 clutch fan,, Turbo's is a been a problem, they have a bad problem Cummins has with their Turbo's, I think is because the exhaust brake runs through it, but the exhaust brakes does help, here going on 170,000 miles with still original brakes at 50% still left,, one other problem is front wheels/tires being balanced with bad vibration around 70mph, so bad its knocked front bearings out twice, We finally got it fixed, went on the internet and found this place in Marrietta, Ga that will do any vehicle on the vehicle high speed balance where they true the tires, then the bacancer spins the tires up to 125mph on vechicle, they showed us before doing it on regular wheel balancer both front tires took about 14oz of weight, then put back on truck, and when they did the high speed balance, both tires they took off those weights and put onlt 2oz on each side, and they all vibrations went away, It was worth the drive to Ga and if anybody out there has a constant vibration on any size vehicle, this is the cure fo tire vibrations :2cents:
