Another one followed me home!

Post by F100builder »

Hello again everyone. I've been lurking and peeking in on the forums every now and then but life sure has me busy these days with work, a new baby, etc. so I haven't posted much lately. I still have the '69 but I probably won't much longer as I've just purchased a '70 SWB 2WD F100 from a friend. This truck is very straight and very rust-free and I told him to make me his first contact if/when he decided to part with it. I'm going to swap out all of the goodies from the '69 to this '70 including the '75 disc DJM-dropped front end with all new brakes, bearings, king pins, coils, a new radiator, master cylinder, power steering, etc. I also have in the works a fresh and very healthy 390/C6 combo sitting in my garage that was originally slated for the '69 but will now be going into the '70 as I obtained it without a motor and transmission.

My plan, because it's already partially disassembled, is to go ahead and scuff, seal, and paint it boxwood green, POR-15 the frame, re-wire it, add new carpet, and install the new 390/C6 to make it a virtually brand new driver. I'm considering using my extra '69 hood and a '67 grille as the '67-'69 grilles are my favorite.

Anyway, once I get started with the transformation, I'll be a posting madman once again! I can't wait to get started! Another project! :woohoo:

NIce score! Looks clean as a whistle. I'm partial to white paint myself & I would LOVE to have a short-wide truck.

What power plant is in the '70 model now?

Originally a 240ci sixer and 3 on the tree but I got the truck with no motor or transmission...it will soon be a new 390 which is currently under construction in my garage (I built a new C6 last summer). The previous owner threw in an automatic brake pedal bracket (no clutch pedal now) so it will be an easy install.

Good Lord I guess I should have read you original post a little better. lol. It was right there!

Either way, good looking old Ford. I love the short bed. This website is the only place I can come to & look at pics of the short bed bumps. When these trucks were still running up & down the road in my area, 99% of them were long beds. I can remember one short wide in town & it was rusted out & beat to death 15 years ago. I haven't seen that truck in a good 10 years, so I figure it's gone to the crusher..

I like it

Thanks. Here in Idaho, being largely a rural and farming state, most of the bumps here are longbeds too...and beat to hell working trucks. Or at least, they used to be.

Hey pat. Good to see you still around. I couldn't see the pictures of the new truck but it sounds like it will be one nice truck when your done. I really like what you've done with the 69.

I also can't see the pics but I'll be waiting for the updates on how you fix up this new project.

Oops! I forgot about the ins and outs of photobucket...I had created a new folder for the new project and moved these pics into it. They're back now! :D

Dang, that is a nice looking truck pat. Sometime when I go to Boise, we will have to get together.

Sounds just like here...
Wouldn't mind one of those following me home; seems the flaresides outnumber the stylesides 4:1 up here for some odd reason. Good to see it ended up in your hands where we know it's gonna turn out well.
