Glad I still have my 71

Post by wildcard »

I bought an 85 last month. Was gonna sell the 71 since it needs quite a few repairs including a steering column and a rear seal on the engine.
I've driven the 85 to work the last 2 days and it is only getting about 12 mpg. That's a 75 mile round trip. So I'm looking at about $21 a day. Not good at all.
It has the same 300 I-6 as the 71. Which gets arond 16 to 18 mpg.
I have put new plugs, wires etc. on it. It has a small breather the PO had on it. About 3 or 4 inch diameter. I would like to put a normal breather on it when I find one. Also want to get the carb rebuilt. But if it doesn't get better soon, it will be sold to fix the 71.

I had an '85 with the 300 I6 in it too and my bump (302/3OTT) got better mileage. I bought the '85 for $750 when my bump got stolen and sold it as soon as I got her back. Sell it and fix the bump. :D
