Yes it does allow for cylinder bal test. It is in excellent condition for its age. I like the timing light attachment. I haven't taken the time to read the operation manual yet. The auctioneer said it was only used on ignition points buses. I'll have to check into it further at some point.Art wrote:Why would that only work with points?

Hello Art, The secondary voltage on modern vehicle electronic ignition is double that of points ignition. That high voltage would more than likely fry the internal components of the scope. If you only hooked up the timing light, it would possibly work without damage to the machine. I would personally just use it as a conversation piece, unless at some date I acquired another points type ignition vehicle.Art wrote:Why would that only work with points?

Distributorless ignitions certainly are way too hot to use that scope on. But with a high scale range of 50k volts, I wouldn't be afraid to connect it to a 70's electronic ignition system if that was my scope.
