I'm from Iowa and we see some of them here but most of them are parked and rotting. Someone must be buying the non destroyed ones up cause I have seen a few in parts yards getting carried in before I acquired my truck and within a week they were gone.

It's like that all over. These trucks use to be running all over the place down here when I started driving in '98. You could always take a drive in the country & see them sitting in a field, next to a barn etc. But now it's a rare treat if I see any around town or even out in the country for that matter.

The scrap boom a few years back cleaned out A LOT of these old trucks from the country side.

In my town, population 60k, there are 10 bumps that are roadworthy that I know of and see regularly. One is really nice, a 72' F100 shorty, the owner is a hot rod guy and he's done a great job on his truck. The rest are in various stages of aging, a couple of them don't look all that different from the rigs I find in Pick-a-Part.

There are a fair number sitting around however, in fields, behind sheds and barns, etc. There are a lot of project cars here as well, most in various stages of assembly/disassembly, but I've not seen any bumps as such.

I live up here as well and don't see very many. However I see a lot of the same vintage Chevys here. I think that a lot of folks here find the bowties more collectable than the ovals because of their lack of rust. I had an old '68 Chevy with 80,000 miles that did not have nearly the rust that my '72 F250 has with 66,000 miles.

Mine is sitting in my shed right now, waiting for me to finish the building so that I can start the restoration. So many projects, so little time.

I have a 68 Chevy too and it has as many miles as my f100 and has about the same amount of rust.... in different places but rust all the same.

I have my nice 69 Ranger, and my stepdad still has a 69 hiboy that is a farm truck. It is on it's third body, lol. Most of them around me are beat and rusted, but still some getting used. Hard to find a good one, makes me want to move south.

When I was a kid I noticed EVERYONE had a Ford or Chev pickup in the driveway, actually more Fords. We had the old flat nose Ford Econoline Van (69-70 maybe?).

But yah, I don't see them around much anymore, rust is bad up here. I know people have them, but seems liek they all drive the new trucks. My father in law still has his 76 XLT, 460-auto, dual battery, dark metallic blue and silver 2 tone Ford, original owner in his garage, near mint too. What a nice truck! But I don't think he drives it even once a year these days.

Mine lost the tranny and fuel pump on the same day going on 2 years ago now, so I haven't had mine out of the mancave either.

It's tough to drive the old cars anymore what with insurance costs and the price of gas (especially considering how MUCH gas a short cruise can eat up in the truck!).
