Jack for the Bump

Post by Forsche »

Does anyone know where I can find a good quality original jack and hold-down clamp for my 68 bump? I've looked constantly on eBay and they never seem to come up for sale. Are these that hard to come by????

Thanks

I have a jack and hold down in a 75 parts truck outside, was just looking at it today and it is identical to my 70, just mounted in a different spot on the fenderwell. Have to check and see if it works still (dunno why it wouldn't). If it's good it is for sale!

Todd, your location makes this very tempting! If the jack is the same as your 70 I just may be interested. Not sure if the 68 is the same as 70 but at least I'd have a jack. Let me know and if so also a price. Thanks

Your location isn't in your profile...

I will check out the jack tomorrow and let you know. I would imagine that jack didn't change for decades - it's not the most elegant piece but it gets the job done!

I got one out of a late 90's early 2000's E series van at a local salvage yard. They're use the same jack as our trucks use.

If you can't find one on here, keep your eye out for a junker E series van & snag it.

We're dealing with 45 years worth of opportunity for losing a jack. In my case it was gone when I bought the bump three years ago. Who knows what happened to it. Someone probably set it in a garage and it never made it back to the truck when it was sold. I've just been surprised how infrequently I see them for sale.

Junkyards are a great place to find jacks for our old trucks. Any F-150 from the 80s or early 90s will usually still have a good jack mounted on the fender under the hood somewhere and the junkyards could care less. I picked one up for $3.

I have this one and the bracket still in my truck (Body came off an original 18,000 mile truck I don't think it has ever been taken out). With the lift kit I wont be able to use it. Send me a pm if you would like it. Forsche, since this is originally your post you have first dibs on it.

Met Forsche and his wife yesterday - great people. He's got a couple of nice rides in the stable, and a not-so-shiny not-so-new jack for the bump.

Thanks Ford4x4Fun and all of the others who offered up ideas. Turns out that ToddSpeed had one from his parts truck. Drove over there yesterday and met Todd and also took a look at his new bump...a very clean '70. Great people and great info on this site!! Thanks again, Todd.
