Less drama please. :o

Thread was locked, not deleted so the info was still there.

Duck and I work as a team, I must be the mom, he's the dad. :hmm:

I left 'dads' lock up for a couple days as a 'lesson' to the forum. :nono:

Then moved it to the engine subforum where folks with oddball ticking noises usually post the same question over and over again...

I deleted the shadow topic under general as it's a PITA to delete once the dateline moves out that far. :help:

BTW, You forgot to use smilies. :D

Sure doesn't seem like the way Kieth would have handled it, but who knows. Times change. Kieth hasn't been active here for years.

So is there a lesson to be learned here...

Can we not post links to videos?
Do we need to make sure to post in the right forum?

...I'm a little confused on what the problem was.

But I will say, having owned and managed a large forum in the past, it's a lot of work and cost for very little return (unless you are fortunate enough to sell it ;) ). At the same time, member retention is critical to success. So let's all shake hands and move forward :)

The problem for me was never that it was in the wrong forum or that it was a video outside the video forum.

The problem for me was that the poster stated that they knew it was against the rules but were going to do it anyway.

Frankly, when I locked it I didn't know what the violation was and didn't have time to figure it out, but I did know the poster knew something was wrong with it.

But yes, it would be appreciated if folks would try to post in the correct forum.

I guess me , Doug and Jamie should talk about the video forum, but I never interpreted it as being wrong to post a link to a video outside that forum, but since all the links to "more information" in the video forum are dead, I'm not sure If I have it right or not. Keith has not responded to e-mail or post in the moderator forum for quite some time and since it is down to Jamie, Doug and me I guess we should figure it out. I always thought the video forum was for videos attached to the post (which would use space and band width) or embedded videos that start automatically which can be annoying. It should be fairly clear that we've allowed links to videos and haven't moved them to the video forum.

The remaining moderators would greatly appreciate it if folks would make a concerted effort to post in the right forum and simply report post that they feel warrant it. There are only three of us left AFAIK because some never accepted the position and at least one basically quit because of lack of support. I know I accepted it and "signed up" for it and I still love this forum, old ford trucks and the membership, but there weren't enough moderators when we were all active along with Keith, now it is even worse and both Jamie and I spend most of our time dealing with spammers and moving/deleting stuff. It cuts way down on the time I have to try to answer post. It is frustrating and it is why it makes me hard to get along with when someone does something that even by their own admission they know is against the rules. Whether that be right or wrong that is the deal.

Maybe I should/could have been nicer but I didn't deserve 3 threads and a snarky PM either, and hindsight is always 20/20.

So can we all please just get back to trucks.

ford4x4fun and all the veterans thank you for your service.

I may have misunderstood some of the drama but wanted to add two cents worth.

It seems that some things were taken to PM's then put out publicly on the forums. Anyone with any kind of leadership experience has learned that when you have a personal conflict that it is proper etiquette to pull them aside and speak with them privately rather then call them out in front of everyone. To me, taking a personal issue to PM's on the forums is the equivalent to taking someone aside in person. I wanted to point this out because if someone tries to handle their problems personally through PM's, it is likely done so out of respect for that person. If it doesn't work out then that is when the mods should help out with the situation.

BIlly, you are right that it can often be easier to say something to someone else over the internet due to the anonimity of it. But that is just the nature of the beast. Sometimes you got to roll with the punches and make sure not to stoop to the level of others. Hopefully, more people realize that you are talking to other humans when interacting here, but I won't hold my breath for everyone.

Most importantly is that this is a great forum and everyone has gotten along very well for the most part. Most conflicts that do arise are handled well and can be solved by taking some time to respond rather then immediately respond on emotion. Robert is correct, hindsight gives us the 20/20 vision we need, and my crystal ball is broken.
