Thanks guys, Ive spent a little time this weekend doing a couple little things to it... its been sitting for 3 years so tune up stuff is happening tomorrow when the parts come in. so far I really like it. generally speaking, when I buy a car I like it when I buy it, a little more when I get home, by the next day I start thinking about the money I spent on it. this car is backwards from that. liked it when I saw it, the next day I wanted it more than the day before.

My overall goal for it is to just try to get it safe and reliable and maintain it (maybe power steering/brakes for drivability). no big project car here, I need to focus on the truck. for the money a guy cant buy a neater car to drive.

Its originally a straight 6 car, but somewhere along the lines somebody put a nice little 289 in it. big drawback is that its an automatic. if theres one project Id like to take on with it, itd be a 5 speed swap.

The wheels. I hate those wheels.

I have a set of 15" boyds that Ill probably put on it from my foxbody. Im pretty used to not being able to leave anything alone, I think Ill be right at home with this thing. a little work here or there will be a good time.

Nice daily driver! It looks like it was a win, win for you. I like your idea of a 5 speed swap, it would make it much more friendly at highway speeds.

Nice (early model) '68 Mustang you have there.

This was the first vehicle I learned to drive (in the very early 1980's). My dad's red & white '68 Ford Ranger (which was upgraded with '70 model Ranger interior/exterior trim).

Image

While the '68 Ranger was the first vehicle I learned to drive, the very first vehicle I ever owned was a 1968 Mustang coupe. This is what my '68 Mustang looked like when I bought it in September, 1982, 2 weeks before I turned 16.

My '68 during my senior year in high school (1985).

My '68 Mustang, prior to me stripping the car completely down to the bare shell, and putting it on the rotisserie --where it's still sitting. I have owned it for 31 years.

The Mustang forum I've been on for the past 12 years, and frequent the most, is Mustang Steve's. http://fyi.boardhost.com/ I go by the board name, "ultrastang" there.
