I love the truck, the noises, the rattles and whistling; it's all part of the experience and joy of driving an older vehicle. Plus, if those things bothered me, I guess I would just go out and buy a new truck and look like everyone else on the road.

I drove my dad's bump to haul wood or parts for my dad's body shop. My car blew up, so I drove the old girl to school for a few months. Dad put on dual 3" exhaust exiting out the sides right in front of the rear wheels and lettered "Kamikaze Krate" on the hood. Loud and crude-just how I like 'em. Me and a friend loaded it full of Model A parts until the rear was sitting on the snubbers and drove it down Hwy 63 at 90 mph. That truck never met a load too heavy and never broke down. Wouldn't have changed a thing.

Other than the squeaking steering wheel I wouldn't change a thing but even that isn't a big deal and the little bit a rust gives it character

I solved the No-Cupholder-Problem at AutoZone. They sell a cupholder called The Octopus that is real wide on the bottom so it won't tip and big enough to hold even the 7-11 Double-Gulp cup. Inside it has 8 flexible wires that steady smaller cups. It sits on the nice big flat transmission hump, just in front of the bench seat. I don't leave home without it.

The big flat dashpad in the F100 is the cupholder I use. Hardly ever tips, but if it does, I clean out the dash area about twice a year...

I dont like the steering column. Its cocked sideways for one, and I dont think it was engineered that well.
(Little crappy bearings falling out).
If I sit in the normal drivers position, the column is over there on the left.

Mine would be the dying speedo cable that cuased me to go through everything twice to still have an intermittent scraping noise going down the road, Finally noticed that when the speedo quit moving the noise also stopped. Appearantly the shop that did the exist forgot to reatach the cable guides to the frame, so the outer layer burned off on the exhuast and the cable has slowly rusted to oblivian.

On an upnote, i am 100 percent certain of my brakes and engine and trans  .

on my '72 the speedometer doesn't work and the other day the fuel gauge quit working, and the hole in the roof the PO drilled for a cb antenna, and he removed the 26 gallon rear tank but left the 19 gallon tank in the cab!

My only complaint about design is the "park your truck on the level or leaning to the right or else watch gasoline seep out when it gets hot" filler cap.

Lost at least half a gallon week before last, even though I burned off a gallon between fill up and parking at home. Had to turn the truck around, which means the rain collects in the bed...
