Things are on hold for a while. Life, work and vacation have taken over. Will be mid July before I am back at it. So here is the seat I got back today. What do you think?

Anybody run a bump with out doors? After all I have been through to rebuild the door and trying (unsuccessfully) to adjust them, I am considering finding a large volcano to drop both of them into. :cuss:

Thanks Sarg! Found this last night diging for info. Yea that needs to be a Tech Artical on this site. Rebuilding the doors is a whip, and just when you think the struggle is over, hanging them makes you relize that it can get worse.

My advice:

1. Full door rebuilds are not a quick fix and it is not cheap to do. Plan on $100 (plus) per door. Fix it while you are in there, you will not want to return to the pit of hell.
2. Be very patient, Things you think will be easy, ain't.
3. Do youself a favor and heavily tape the window access hole edge. It is sharp as a razor and I have scars to prove it. (pit of hell has teeth)
4. Mark your hinges before removal. (I did but panted over them) Drill a small hole for alinement.
5. Don't beat the door pins in with a hammer. (I did and that is why I am struggling.)
6. Find a door do buddy. It may cost you a few beers but the extra help is handy.

All sounds like great advice. Thanks for the words of wisdom. I have been giving my doors the stunk eye knowing that I have to deal with them very soon. To make it a real pleasure, my passenger door is a swap and while the alignment of hinges, gaps and striker/latch is spot on, the darn bump does not line up. :hw:

Pit of hell.....here I come.

PS. Loving the Blog. Good stuff. My Dad emailed me and commented on it too. He said it was good

It's do-able! I got the passenger side fixed this evening. It took about 45 minutes to get it done. The Classic Trucks instructional was a big help.

Thanks for the shout outs on the blog.

Door alignment is absolutely a two man job. I operated the ratchet while my Dad moved the door around. I swear sometimes I didn't think it moved at all, but a tiny bit at the hinge means alot at the other end of the door. Baby steps...
