well im one step closer...

Post by 71fordkid »

I finally got the money to go get my axle for my truck. Picked up a limited slip, 4.10 geared 8.8 With disc brakes from a 2001 explorer sport trac today.

Some measurements, axle flange to axle flange is 61 inches, it is 5x4.5. Spring perches under the 3.25" axle tube.

Now I just gotta rob an explorer of shock mounts and a drive line.

One step at a time. It will all come together. Good find. Is it a Trac Loc rear? The 4.10 should be fine with the AOD trans.

Its just a stock LSD diff. Im going to add another clutch to the pack and stretch the spring to make it a little tighter. we did this to my buddy's 3.73 p71 and it worked great.

I got it for a steal. It helps working at a dealership and knowing people. lol. the parts guy was saving it for a 60's mustang but, in his words " my fox body hasn't been registered since 06, and I don't see anything happening soon, so its just taking up space." right place, right time. :hd:

I gotta rob those parts off an explorer, then figure out if I want to try and fix the rust around the drip rails all the way around my cab
, or if I want to just get a new cab. then hopefully itll be on the road by next summer.
