Thank you guys for your help! Fordification already has some bright thoughts in my mind. One more thing if you don't mind? My f100 I believe was transferred from column to stick by my dad (who I don't talk to anymore) and I'm only 16 so was not old enough to remember all he did when he worked on it before me and when I try to shift to second at times it gets "sticky" and will not go into second Seems all the other gears are always easy but 15% of the time this happens with second And I had one incident recently where it wouldn't shift out of second. Any ideas what might be wrong? Again thanks!

Check your linkage first.....then if all else fails, you may be into the tranny. But check for binding in the linkage first. Find out what shifter it is,but most have a hole for a centering pin right on the shifter itself. If so, disconnect the ling age from the shift levers on the side of the trans, insert a nail or drill bit the same size as the hole. then make sure the trans is in neutral, and adjust the linkage from the shifter to fit onto the shift levers of the trans...remove pin(nail/drill bit) and check the movement of the shifter.
Clear as mud?

Check the driverside cabmount, If its rusted and starting to settle then it will put the linkage in a bind because the steering colum is carring the wieght of the cab and can't move freely like it should.
