Look what the cat dragged in!!!

Post by fonfixer »

:woohoo: :D :D :woohoo: Here is my truck that I found over grown in weeds. After I finished my honey do's and mama was gone to Dallas, I grabbed my tools and beat feet to the south side of town to claim what I already paid for (besides, it had the tires from my current '67 setting under it and I really wanted those back!) All four brake drums were locked up. Four hours later and it free roles, but no brakes what so ever. No problem, it doesn't run either. Not sure what I'll do with it. Either take the best parts for my current ride or work on putting this back together again. Besides the fact that its currently a flintstonemoble, its a one owner (same family after dad passed) and someone cut the dash to accept a modern FM radio. The steering column is nice and tight with no gaps and the correct linkage to the tranny. The tranny itself would be a keeper, cast iron three speed. Already thinking of swapping leaf springs, my current ride sags on the driver side. The bed was what sold me on this truck, always been partial to step sides. Mama been promising me a shop for 22 years, income tax return is going towards a shop. It'll be hard to wait another 7 months, or more, before I can really do anything, I'm tired of working in the dirt at the end of the driveway!! The hood is in the bed of the truck, only missing the carb, fuel pump, and air filter and four wheels with tires!! :D :woohoo: :D

As I understand it the production numbers were quite a bit lower on Flareside trucks than Styleside with the LWB Flareside the lowest of them all. Might consider putting this 1 back together.

Finally had time to get the VIN since I woke up at 4 am! Seems there were 18,307 of these trucks made that year, if I read the VIN right. How many more have already gone to the scrape heap or been over grown by weeds and grass? It'd be a shame to part this out. Its rough but its original besides the radio opening being cut and the radio MIA. I got seven months before I can even think of building a shop, gives me time to start collecting parts as long as moma dont mind them taking up garage space. Lots of pictures to come.
