Hey guys, I recently got a replacement gas cap for my 1971 F100 shortbed truck and am having a hell of a time getting it on right. The old one's rubber was completely rotted out but it always went on smoothly. I got a replacement that fits right and should be the right part but no matter how hard I try to get it to lock in place I just can't seem to do it. Elbow grease has been applied haha. It's a locking gas cap but it shouldn't need the key turned in order to lock it on.
Am I doing something wrong? Anyone have this issue?
Thanks a bunch!

Re: Gas cap issues
Any chance the new cap came in a cardboard box or similar packing? If so, someone could have put the wrong cap in it. Almost sounds like the new cap is close but just not the right one.

Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in garages. (Apologies to Kenneth Grahame.)
