:yt: I would agree. It's their car or truck and their money too so let them build it the way they want. At least they are an enthusiast, in the hobby, helping to keep it alive. :)
It's not really anything new for people to do these brand-x swaps either. I have some old magazines from the early '70's and there are tons of tech articles and questions on everything from how to put an FE in a jeep to how to swap a Cadillac V8 or Chrysler 440 or Hemi into an F-100. Some of the strangest ones that I've actually seen in person were a '63 (or '64) F-100 with a poly 318 in it, a '66-'67 Satellite with a 327 Chevy in it, a mid '70's Camaro with a 455 Olds and there used to be a Bumpside running around here with a 455 Buick under the hood.
Whether these were planned to intentionally have "something different" or because they ran whatever engine they could get their hands on or already had, I don't know. I most cases my guess would be the latter.
But, at least an old truck or car was saved and is being enjoyed, and yeah, life is too short. :)

:off:
i dont personaly care all that much about the chevy in the ford, though its annoying.

my remark was why are chevy guys A-holes in regards to fords?

Example: when i asked him "why did he put a chevy in a ford," he could of said 'well ive always loved the chevy 454 and ive always wanted a model T roadster why not have both, ha ha ha'

instead he was a prick and said "its the only way to make a ford run! BA HAHAHA!"

un called for. :nono: :x

Even as a youth, I always thought it didn't matter what the brand was, what did matter what how it ran, and how much gas ya got in the tank.
In high school there were lots af Chevrolet/GM fanatics who really hated Fords. My buddies and I (there were 4 of us with 64-66 Mustangs) would remind them of the international racing success of the Shelbys, Cobras and Daytona Coupes. Then there were of course the acronyms...to which we we'd retort "First On Race Day"!
All in all, no one was particularly mean, just some loyal fans, but those Chevy guys were sure quick to give their opinion...you never had to ask them for it either!

Ran into a guy a while back with a old Chevy truck with a Ford engine. To each our own, live and let live. Enjoy life, it ends here on earth soon enough. Just my opinion.

This is what I have learned over the years, I could build 2 chevys for the price of one ford! I have always stayed true though cause i like ford. One thing that irritates me is that they always add a 350 for the most part. If it was me I would add a 283 cause they are really fun little engines to drive.

Back when I was in high school, a classmate of mine dad slipped a 283 into a '50 chevy 2 dr. for his son to drive to school. He would pick me up every now & then headed for school. That little 50 with three on the tree & a 283 with a 2 barrel rochester carb was a sweet ride in those days.It fooled a lot of much later model cars of all makes.Good memories from good times. :D

About 6 years back I sold Dad's 64 El Camino for him. That 283 was untouched except for oil changes and tune ups over all those years. Still purred like a kitten. He would have gave it to me, but I didn't want it, and selling it gave him some play money before he passed.

some interesting chevy facts. you can use bbc chevy rods to beef up the caddy 500. to beef up the caddy 500 top end you can also use bbc rockers. also chevy rods can be used to build a 400m for power. it's a good thing forged chevy stuff is so plentiful and cheap compared to other brands for other makes.

although i like chevrolets and have owned 2 chevy classics in my time, my brand of choice is a tie between Cadillac and ford. i would kill for a 1959 ford starliner. that's my FE dream car if i had to build my dream FE engine.

but i have to build a cadillac 500 before i die and put it in a g body. that's on my bucket list. i'm pretty sure if i do it right i could ruin my shorts every time i hit the gas. i road in a 483ci stroked out pontiac one time and i know that this would scare me a little more...

I don't know how anyone would have the guts to call that truck restored. The bodywork alone is terrible.Times really have changed more so than I already knew. Absolutely no pride at all taken. Back in 1962 I saw a few so called restorations across the border from San Diego that had the quality of that truck.

Restored would be quite a stretch of the word in my book. Restored to me means back to original as it was when new.

A resto-mod might be more fitting for that truck ( maybe without the resto part though  ). I've never had any bad experiences with "Chevy dudes" in the time I've been into cars. Most of the people who have helped me with my truck have liked Chevys or GM. All of the negative reactions about my truck that I've gotten have been from rice burner people. I personally don't care for those kinds of cars but I'm respectful of the work they have put in them. The only cars I've bought so far have both been Ford F series  . The only foreign car I ever wish to buy in my lifetime would be a air cooled VW van, bug, or ghia.

the same chevy guys who are dickie about fords are even worse about rice burners....but then again so are the ford and dodge guys -so nobody's really innocent are they?
it used to be fun getting a rise out of my hardcore chevy buds by telling them about my plans to shove a 351w into my malibu  man talk about upsetting the apple cart

lol well again i dont care so much about the engine in the ford. though i do hate it. its that he was an a$$. if ive got a chevy and i use a 9" rear end. and chevy man says "nice ride, why did u put a ford 9" in a chevy?"

well i can tell u the last thing i would say is "its the only way to make a chevy run!!! hahaha!"

this type of reply is synonymous with chevy lovers. why?
