Why Can't an 8600 GVRW 3/4 Ton Chevy Pull

Post by rjewkes »

a 5000 GVRW Half ton ford on a trailer or dolley? But Uhaul then suggests i can use a tow bar, with my only option is a bolt together adjustable from reese? My light weight in the ford is 3860.

That's funny I seen a U Haul trailer behind a Dakota with an Impala wagon on it. I had my truck moved & used U Ship. It was cheaper than what I could have got what I needed from U Haul.

I was going to trailer my truck from MO to IN & checked with U Haul. $.79/mile for a truck & the same for the trailer. I posted on U Ship at roughly 7pm & by 9 am I had a guy coming to pick it up for $627. Enclosed trailer & was there the next morning. It worked out to less than what I would have paid U Haul.

They wouldn't let me rent a trailer to haul a '91 GMC Z71 with my friends F150 4x4. Told them I'd be using another friends F250 4x4 with a HD towing package instead. I rented the trailer and told them I'd be by later to pick it up after they closed. Picked it up with the F150, got the GMC and took the trailer back the same night. :D

Well i know my first F100 Hualed a 77.5 Extended cab/super cab F150 with no problems. and since my 72 only weighs 3894.5 Lbs i do beleive a 2500 Chevy with Tow Package should be able to get it.

Most rental places nowadays dont rent a car hauler to anyone with a half ton truck. They want something heavier and beefier towing than what your hauling. Ive been told the minimum size truck to rent a car hauler is a 3/4 ton pickup.

Just tell them your hauling a vw bug. What does your 2500 weight? 4,500lbs? trailer weights 1,000 or so? 4k on your truck being towed? thats 9,500 gross right there. swing a hundred pounds depending on how much fuel the trucks are carrying.
