I just had to tell someone!

Post by ta TACO »

Hello all,

So I have a leaky rear sliding window, and am looking to get it fixed. I've looked on LMC and NPD. For around $200 I can get a new one with seal. So I decide to call a local glass company to get a quote. For a new sliding window w/ install is $888.00. :loco: LMC has a electric rear window for $575. I couldn't believe it!

Iv'e noticed that on a good percentage of trucks the rear is more in $$ than the front no matter if is solid or sliding. I guess it's the supply and demand thing.

find a auto glass guy on the street and try to work out an after hours deal, (side job). It has saved me tones of money in the past.

Maybe so, but what happens if the "Guy on the street" scratches your paint? Breaks the glass? The glass falls out when you hit a bump? Who do you think is going to cover that cost?
A glass shop will get the glass or slider, install it and give you a warranty.
You and a buddy can install a back glass. Plenty of youtube videos showing you how to do it.

Front and rear glass is dead simple on our trucks. Getting it out ain't easy without cutting the rubber, but going in is easy when you understand the process.

I don't like rear sliders. Probably sent 10+ to scrap in bumpsides. I have a lifetime supply of solid back glass though, just in case.
