heater core

Post by MMarty »

Hey I just got a 71 f100 that has factory A/C. It needs a heater core but I can't locate one anywhere. LMC, MACS, NPD, no have. Any ideas? Thanks.

Have you tried your local parts store? I'm constantly amazed at how much stuff is still available, often in stock. If not, they've got 'em at rockauto.com for $32.

Buy a regular heater core and have a radiator shop put the top tank off of the old AC heater core on to the new one. I did this with my truck and it works fine. The actual core is the same size.

Thanks for the replies. I tried rock auto but they don't even list one for a A/C model. I might just take it to a radiator shop and have them fix it.

Sorry, I didn't pick up on the A/C variation. Let us know how that comes out for you.

AS far as anyone has been able to determine, nobody make an aftermarket heater core for a factory AC equipped truck. Having your tanks fitted to a new core is probably your only realistic option.
Sorry. :(
