I Wonder How Many Old Owners My Truck Has Served ?
I purchased my old Ford from a seventy seven year old gentleman who passed on six months after I purchased it from him. I know that he purchased it from another old gentleman that passed on at some time after he purchased it. I am at the end of my life now, but the truck is not going to be sold this time. I am giving it to my thirty two year old son. Hopefully it will be around a lot longer with this new owner than it has in the past.

Re: I Wonder How Many Old Owners My Truck Has Served ?
I've often wondered the same thing. My truck was born in Canada for the Atlanta distribution area. I'd love to know how she wound up on the side of the highway where I found her. Not the most traveled path and back in 1970, I doubt people drove an hour and a half to buy an old truck with no luxury options.

I know that I'm the third owner of my 68 but I'd like to find the original owner. I got a box of parts with it, mostly stuff that has been replaced. I found two sunvisors that were original and very dirty/dusty. I washed them off and I found some writing on one. It was two people making it official that they love one another on 12/21/78. I'd like to give that back to whomever owned the truck. I bet if they married they'd love to have that.

Being the great mechanic that you are, i'm sure your son is getting a truck that is sturdy and runs great.

Re: I Wonder How Many Old Owners My Truck Has Served ?
I don't have any idea on my trucks history before 2005 other than it was in Georgia back then.I have got to be atleast the 4th or 5th owner. The guy I bought mine from was the previous owners son whos father had passed on and the son had another ( newer) truck already. I know his father had a truck just like this one when he was younger and searched the country to find that exact one but then settled on another just like it ( the truck I have now) after never finding it. This truck must have brought back lots of great old memories of riding around many years ago. I told the son when I bought the truck I'd take care of it and send him info once I fixed things but I could tell he was sad to see it leave. One day I hope to restore the truck to like new but I won't be able to do that for a long time. I wish that somehow I could let all the past owners know that their old truck was doing well and in good hands.

I'm very fortunate I have all of the history of my truck. Always thouht my Grandpa bought it new. I was wrong I have the original owners manual filled out
bought in Cloquet MN, October 31st 1968 by a name I don't reclall but registered to my Grandpa in 1970 I have all the records from then on including notebooks full of what gas station it went to, how much the gas was, and gas milage. Lots of pics and 8mm movies to go along with that. I'm a history nut and love the stories behind something.

Pacific Power ordered my '70 in 1969. They auctioned it in 1981 and the buyer swapped a 390 in place of the 300, started an excavation business and raised a family with the truck as his only vehicle until 1995. I purchased the truck in 2000 for $400 and the axles from the wrecked '95 F-350 the owner bought to replace this truck for $1000.

Re: I Wonder How Many Old Owners My Truck Has Served ?
Always like thinking of them when they were new. Wondering who owned them and what they've been through. The '72 Explorer F100 I used to have and drove for nearly ten years, was traded in by the original owner at a used car lot I worked at. He was in his 70's and said the truck had over 250k miles and had never been apart. The 360 and c6 still ran out great. Used it to pull his camper and travelled all over with it. He said his kids were making him trade it in do to it's age. They were afraid it was going to be unreliable. The poor old fella had tears in his eyes as I pulled it around back. I bought it for $300 to flip it, but fell in love with it and drove it for almost ten years. I sold it in a spur of the moment decision and regret it every day. Here's a pic after I gave him a paint job.

Re: I Wonder How Many Old Owners My Truck Has Served ?
I know that feelingi'd like to find out which previous owner brush painted mine with housepaint (over straight sheetmetal and paint that would have came out mint with a simple cut polish) so i could give them a slap upside the head

I'd like to do the same to the owner who thought I'd be a good idea to put bolts in the top of the gas tank causing gas to leak out down the front of the tank and did a bad paint job all over the outside of the truck
