P.O.'ed at Carpenter Ford...

Post by happycamper »

Just bought a load of parts from these yo-yo's for my 72 XLT. Dropped the 600 ponies for the wood-grained side trim...still getting some flak from the ol' lady, but...come to find out that the last piece to install didn't fit. It's the passengers rear corner, the one that goes over the rear marker light. I thought hmmm, it looks like a left hand piece, but came in a right hand baggie. I called Carpenter Ford to tell them this and they promptly sent a replacement. Lo and behold, the replacement came and it too, was a left hand piece in a right hand baggie. I thought, am I nuts here? I compared the pieces, original and replacement, and noticed that they flare differently in the rear and there is a drain lip cutout on each respective side. What I got were identical reproductions of a left hand side. When I called Carpenter Ford again and told them that there may be a production/packaging issue going on, ie. left handed pieces being bagged as right handed pieces and my matter needing resolution, they said they would do an investigation and call me back. That was 3 weeks ago and no call back. Also, I ordered armrest pads from them too. These are about the nastiest ill fitting Chinese made crap! I had to elongate the holes on one side to get it to fit properly. They are very plastic looking too. :x

What ever happened to customer service? It sucks nowadays. When you are in a niche market, I would think you would want to nurture your customer relations a little better if you want them to continue buying from you. Buyer beware when dealing with these guys. Them claim to be making Ford endorsed reproduction parts, but most of this garbage is China made. I will think twice to just tough it out and get stuff from the scrap yards and clean it up before buying new, reproduction stuff.

OK, I'm done; getting off my soap box now. :pout:

hate to hear you having trouble with DC. I have not dealt with any trim mouldings yet but everything i purchased from DC i have been pleased with. I do buy from NPD also but some things i get from NPD is DC labeled. Some DC parts are cheaper from NPD :hmm:

I also bought repoduction parts that were of poor quality. (not from DC though) I try to buy NOS parts or good OEM parts. It's sad the price you pay for junk.

I have ordered from DC a few times now and really am not overly impressed with them regarding ANYTHING. They claim to have the actual FORD approved reproductions, but I have found a lot of China crap with them as well. And they charge a lot more than anyone else for the same China crap they are peddling. LMC is so-so but now when I order, I pretty much stick with NPD if they have it as at least their prices are decent and their customer service is the best. :2cents:
