'Free' bump on 'Fast and Loud'

Post by motzingg »

Anyone catch the gas monkies on monday night flipping some lady's granddad's prized possession for 6 G's???

Holy crap, is that what a long bed ranger is worth these days? I think my short bed is going to be for sale if that's the case... crazy.

Don't get me wrong, it was a beautiful truck, og owner, obviously garaged all these years. That camper shell was sweet too, could have at least put it on craigslist for $50 instead of smashing it.

Oh well, dime a dozen, right?

I saw it. In the previews they showed a "72 then the "69 popped up?? I agree about the camper shell. I like the show but I dont think people are really paying that much. :dk:

The lady that gave it away did not know what she had. Someone that did not need the money.

There was one show several months ago, when he bought a 71 long box F100 in pieces. It turned out quite good (two-tone blue and white) and sold it to an elderly couple for 36G's. It is now on ebay for 45G's. Makes you wonder where they get their value information, or does someone have too much money to spend. MK

People still watch that crap?

As said above, it's all for the ratings and just screws the little guy who wants to buy a nice older truck for a fair amount.

Since I currently own and am not shopping for a bump I think it's great. It drives up the value of our trucks. You all can now throw your rotten veggies at me now. ;)

eh, the market has a way of correcting for that kind of thing... people figure out pretty quick what something is worth when it sits in their driveway for a year without selling.

old stuff getting 'collector appeal' is a double-edged sword. on one hand, it makes owning them more expensive which sucks but on the other hand it preserves more trucks for future generations and for us to get later. would you rather have the truck get given away and the gas monkies sell it to someone who thinks its worth $6k and will treat it like a $6k car, or have it be owned by someone who thinks it is only worth scrap and will treat it as such.

the thing i like about 'rescuing' old stuff (aka: flipping or picking) is that you take something that the current owner/hoarder/etc thinks is worth very little and may not care for, and you get it into the hands of someone who thinks it is valuable. the downside is raising the prices for the 'rest of us' . At least the gas monkey guys and to some extent the 'pickers' guys add some value to what they sell, cleaning it up or making it driveable... where as some of the other scoundrels on TV and all over the world, i'm sure, just grab junk and 'flip' it for more money, or in the worst cases part out decent stuff because its worth more that way.

I saw that show too and I thought the topper they crunched was different than the one that was on the truck. I get the pair of '69's I bought a couple weeks ago delivered here the first part of next week and I hope Fast 'n Loud sees them on the back of the flat deck and follows them here. :D Fat chance of that being how I am in Canada. I might have one sold already but it sure won't be for 6 large! $600 maybe, and it runs!
